Tom | A Must Read for anyone who has experienced cancer
I bought this book after my husband had a large sarcoma removed from his leg. It was very close to rupturing and spreading to the rest of his body. It was caught just in the nick of time, and no radiation treatments were necessary. I had a mammogram done and dense tissue was found. I don’t believe in mammograms, and after reading Dr. Brandy’s section on Myths regarding mammograms, my suspicions have been confirmed. There are more common myths as well.
I also bought this book to educate myself more on cancer awareness, treatment options, side effects, and most of all how to treat or prevent cancer naturally. I started a mostly plant based diet years ago, not because of the excellent health benefits, but because of my multiple food allergies to gluten (celiac), beef, pork, poultry, and more recently, shrimp. I do eat fish like salmon, cod or pollack, but not as much as I used to.
Dr. Brandy’s book begins like a medical textbook, and it may be a little complicated to read for non-Medical majors, but it was very informative nonetheless. The sections on chemo and radiation stated benefits as well as side effect, and what to take to overcome the side effects. Again, very informative. My husband was pre-med and has a Master’s from UCLA, and he can help me better understand these sections.
The sections on diet, supplements, exercise and stress are much easier to read, and extremely informative.
The main reasons also for buying this book: the author is a M.D.; he was diagnosed with cancer; he describes his journey from his diagnosis, through his treatments; his regimen of plant-based diet which he started before his diagnosis, his supplements, his exercise, how to reduce stress, and more. While reading all this, I pictured myself and my husband in each scenario. My husband wasn’t into the idea of a plant-based until I showed him the benefits from this book. He is now convinced.
I give this book two thumbs up, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is suffering through cancer and the treatments that follow, and for those who want to prevent cancer from going out of control.
I am currently reading “The China Study: Revised and Expanded Edition: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss, and Long-Term Health”, by T. Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell II and I highly recommend this book as well.
I will follow with “How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease”, by Michael Greger M.D. FACLM and Gene Stone
All of these books I listed are written by medical doctors. All authors have done many years of research before publishing their books. They are not the quick fix, easy to follow and never work. They don’t recommend the quick-fix take a pill for better health.
I wish everyone the best of health and I hope this helps from a non-Medical point of view.
